mothers day self care

A Mother’s Day Wish For You

I’ve had to learn (the hard way) that getting a lunch or dinner reservation on Mother’s Day at most restaurants around town is nearly impossible, unless you reserve it weeks or a month or more in advance.

That’s why this year I’m bypassing all that hassle and making my mom and mother-in-law a beautiful lunch at home.

Likewise, if you’re a mom, you’re likely to receive cards, gifts, flowers, or something special this Mother’s Day too – and much deserved!

But, have you thought about giving yourself something too?

If you’re not sure what that would be, I have an idea.

I’m guessing you probably have a lot of what you need already, except maybe this…

Consider the time when your kids were crawling and just learning to walk.

When they got up to try standing and taking that first step, but quickly fell, you were compassionate, gentle, and kind.

You didn’t scold them or tell them how poorly they performed – that would only discourage them; instead, you applauded their resilience as you encouraged them to get back up and try again.

Today, will you give yourself the same compassion, gentleness, and kindness as you did your kids when they were falling and getting back up over and over again – not just when learning to walk, but throughout their life?

You did it for them and perhaps you still do as they navigate life.

I bet that’s what they’d want you to do for yourself too.

Sure, it’s painful when we fall, but imagine where you’d be right now if you gave up on the many opportunities in your life that you weren’t successful at the first time.

My wish for you this Mother’s Day is to be kinder, gentler, and more compassionate toward yourself as you work toward creating healthier habits and lifestyle changes.

Remember, what you now find easy, you once found hard.

If you keep getting up after you fall, imagine looking back someday so glad that you did. After all, what’s the alternative?

Enjoy your special day. I hope you feel loved and cared for – by others AND yourself.

I sure am grateful for this opportunity each week to share my work with you and hopefully inspire, educate, and empower you toward becoming the healthiest and happiest woman you can be.

Until next week…

Keep forgiving.
Keep persisting.
Keep learning.

Happy Mother’s Day!
