How Washing the Dishes Can Bring Out the Best in You

I’ve never used a dishwasher.

At first, not by choice – we didn’t have one in the house I grew up in.

But everywhere I’ve lived since has had a dishwasher, and I’ve used it, but not in the conventional way; rather, I’ve found it to be a handy extra space to store my larger pots, pans, and muffin tins.

At the beginning of each year, I create a theme (usually a word or short phrase) that I use to guide my focus and intention that year.

A few years ago, I chose the theme “World Class,” meaning that I would approach everything I did with a world-class mindset – from how I showed up to work every day, to the way I connected with my clients, to the content I created for my community (you!), and so on.

As a result, in my membership community, the Theme I chose for this month was “Downshift,” based on the book we’re exploring: “The Blue Zones: 9 Lessons For Living Longer From the People Who Have Lived the Longest.”
