Part 1: SLEEP – The “Telling Month" of October
Preparing for a healthy, happy holiday season doesn’t start in November; believe it or not, it starts now, in October.
As a matter of fact, I like to call October the “telling month” because you can “tell” a lot about how successful a person might be at managing their weight throughout the holidays based on how they “run” their October.
Lower Stress Using This Simple Tweak

We know that chronic stress can not only wreak havoc on our immune system causing us to catch colds more often, but that’s the least of one’s problems when stress levels are at a high constant.
How Washing the Dishes Can Bring Out the Best in You
I’ve never used a dishwasher.
At first, not by choice – we didn’t have one in the house I grew up in.
But everywhere I’ve lived since has had a dishwasher, and I’ve used it, but not in the conventional way; rather, I’ve found it to be a handy extra space to store my larger pots, pans, and muffin tins.
Be the Change You Wish to See… in Yourself?
At the beginning of each year, I create a theme (usually a word or short phrase) that I use to guide my focus and intention that year.
A few years ago, I chose the theme “World Class,” meaning that I would approach everything I did with a world-class mindset – from how I showed up to work every day, to the way I connected with my clients, to the content I created for my community (you!), and so on.
Downshift: The Importance of Regular Self-care Practices in Midlife
Not unlike a car that runs at high speeds for too long and too often, our bodies, if treated similarly, will too break down faster and will be more costly to repair.
As a result, in my membership community, the Theme I chose for this month was “Downshift,” based on the book we’re exploring: “The Blue Zones: 9 Lessons For Living Longer From the People Who Have Lived the Longest.”
Permission to Retreat: 5 Reasons to Get Away
Five years ago I chose to take a leap from a personal trainer helping my clients from the “outside-in,” to a wellness coach, guiding my clients toward positive change from the “inside-out.”
I enjoyed working on “shaping” my midlife clients’ bodies for 15 years as a trainer, but I knew they needed more from me.
An Alternative to Hating Your Body
I used to think public transportation was just for people who didn’t have a car…
I have a car, but I actually choose to take the bus occasionally!
Call me crazy, but sometimes it’s just more convenient for me – I don’t have to worry about finding parking, or worse yet, get into an accident (that’s my fault!).
Podcast Roundup
In everything I do, my aim is to inspire, educate, and empower you to greater health and self-care in your midlife years.
If you feel like you need some of that right now, you’re in luck because I rounded up all the podcasts I’ve been a guest on.
I don’t have my own podcast (yet), but if it’s something you’d find valuable on your journey through your midlife years, I’ll consider it (let me know).
The Only Real Way to Combat Aging
Remember when you could eat crappy food, pull all-nighters, and still have the energy to power through your day?
Oh, and you looked good doing it.
But that was 30 years ago, and perhaps you’ve recognized in your midlife years that your body isn’t as resilient as it used to be.
5 Reasons Why You Might Be Procrastinating When It Comes to Exercise [Part II]
Last week I shared Part I of the 5 Reasons Why You Might Be Procrastinating When It Comes to Exercise.
If you missed Part I, be sure to check it out.
I truly hope that you gain some insight and understanding into why you might be procrastinating when it comes to exercise, because frankly, it’s just too important to continue putting off.
5 Reasons Why You Might Be Procrastinating When It Comes to Exercise [Part I]
We don’t mean to procrastinate on things we know are good for us, like exercise, yet we do it anyway.
But why?
There are several reasons I’ve come across (and honestly, some I’ve used myself at times), but there are 5 that appear the most often in my work coaching women in midlife.
Midlifers, Stop Baby’ing Your Parents… AND Yourself!
My family gathered at my grandma’s house recently, the same day her downstairs toilet broke.
It was a holiday, so plumbers were scarce.
This wouldn’t be a problem (to wait until Monday to get it fixed), except that it’s the only bathroom she has downstairs.
While there are two bathrooms on the second floor, she doesn’t climb the stairs anymore.
Schedule a 20-minute consulation with Kim!
Schedule a 20-minute call during my Office Hours to talk with me about where you are and where you want to be.
You can ask me any questions you might have and we can determine if we’re the right match for each other.
