Life is Like an Orchestra

My mentor says that life is like an orchestra. For example, sometimes the violins are soft and the drums are loud. While other times, the drums are soft, but the violins are loud. However, all the instruments work in harmony and are needed at different times to create a beautiful sound.

Sometimes life calls us to work hard, sometimes to play, and other times to rest.

Your summer may have been filled with numerous events, programs, concerts, movies at the park, and other exciting activities. Or, maybe your summer looked a little calmer with spending a lot of time relaxing, vacationing, and lounging at the beach or lake.

Regardless of how you spent your summer, most of us will look to getting back to “normal” life. As much as I love the summer and all the fun and carelessness that it brings, I have found that the summer can lead to a series of unhealthy habits that are hard to break when the fun is over.

Think about what good habits you want to bring back to your life before the summer. Were you more active? Did you do more grocery shopping for healthy foods? Did you prepare more meals at home? Were you eating every few hours to keep your metabolism up?

Routines can be boring and drab, but they can also lay a great foundation for good habits.

If you read my blog frequently, you know that I love looking ahead and planning. Well here I go again. In my 14 years of training clients, I’ve seen a trend. When the summer winds down, the ones who get back on track immediately are able to maintain their weight or often lose weight going into the holidays. I always push my clients to work hard in September and October, because we all know what happens in November and December – the holidays call for excessive eating and drinking. Why do you think the gyms are filled on January 1st?

But don’t worry. This doesn’t have to be the case for you. Think ahead. Think about your years past. How can you begin to shape your mindset for the coming months? As the summer winds down, begin putting an action plan into place to get back to some good habits that will get you back on track and back to a healthy way of life.

If you need help getting back on track or maybe have never been on track to good health, consider my 5-day Summer Fat Flush Challenge running August 26-30. It’s completely virtual so you can participate anywhere. I will be your coach for 5 days guiding you toward success. Do it alone or grab a friend who also wants to better their health. The cost is only $30 a person. Reply back to let me know you’re interested!
