Where Attention Goes, Energy Flows
Think for a moment about the things you put most of your attention on. Some things you may be committed to are your family, job, parents, friends, favorite TV shows, games on your phone or iPad, etc. The list can go on and on, but what about your health? In what ways are you putting attention on your health?
Are you committed to…
- starting your morning with a healthy breakfast?
- intentional exercise most days of the week?
- packing a healthy lunch to take to work?
- going to bed at a certain time in order to get a good night’s sleep?
- taking time for yourself to relax and rejuvenate?
- grocery shopping and planning your meals for the week?
Perhaps you are putting enough attention on your health and are where you want to be. If you are, I congratulate you for that. But, possibly you aren’t. Maybe you’ve been struggling with the same health problem for months or even years. Einstein said that insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result.
Today, meditate upon where your attention is going right now in your life. Make a list of the time you spend doing your daily activities. If you aren’t where you want to be health-wise, it might be time to start putting more time and attention there. If your attention shifts to a healthier mindset (it starts here), then your energy will start to flow to making healthier choices.
If you haven’t been as committed as you would like, or your attention and energy are flowing into some areas of your life that you could cut out or minimize in order to allow for time to work on yourself, maybe today you want to make your first commitment to that.
